DAR Dogs Needing Homes

Please browse through all of our available dogs. We do the best to match the known temperament, breed, age, and level of activity of our dogs to potential owners. Some dogs require more training than others; some would suit being rehomed as the only dog or would prefer canine companionship. If you have any additional queries on the dogs below, please contact us at info@dar.ie .

PLEASE NOTE: We do not have a facility for holding all of our dogs. They are kept in private boarding kennels, foster homes or still with their owners who are seeking to surrender them. ALL VIEWINGS are by APPOINTMENT ONLY.

All of our dogs are vaccinated, neutered (if older than 6 months), de-wormed & de-flea'd. All dogs receive a health check from local vets. Drogheda Animal Rescue will do its best to assess the character, temperament, and level of obedience of each dog before it is rehomed.

Drogheda Animal Rescue requests a donation when adopting a dog. All donations are used solely for the care of our animals and will help with the expense incurred by Drogheda Animal Rescue for veterinarian costs associated with vaccinations, neutering, worming & de-flea'ing.

The DONATION GUIDELINE below is the minimum amount that will cover our vaccination & neutering costs only. Please bear in mind that many of our dogs are kept in costly boarding kennels until homes can be found, and Drogheda Animal Rescue absorbs this cost.

  • Un-Vaccinated Puppies: €25.00
  • Vaccinated Dogs & Puppies: €65.00
  • Vaccinated & Neutered Dogs: €150
  • Microchipping: Free of Charge for all DAR Dogs

All potential owners must complete a rehoming questionnaire and all homes are vetted. Please see section on Adoption Process - Dogs for further details on our adoption policy.

Brillo

More Photos
AGE: 1-2 years old
SEX: Female (Neutered)
BREED: Patterdale Terrier x
LOCATION: Found @ Scholes Lane, Drogheda
DESCRIPTION:

Brillo is a lovely young female wire-haired Terrier, possibly a Patterdale x, and she is ready for a new home. She was originally found in mid-April 2014 in Drogheda but no owners were found. She went to a new home on trial in the country, a farm, but being a true terrier, ended up killing some chickens! She is currently in foster care and waiting for a second chance.

Brillo is small, about 7kg, sweet, affectionate but timid in new situations and is not used to being walked on a lead or in busy areas with traffic. She is very good in the house, loves her toys and is a happy girl who loves her comfort! She is best as an only dog as she is not good with small dogs and is afraid of big dogs!

An ideal home for Brillo would be in a quiet area with a large secure garden, no other pets and with someone who wants a loving little companion. If that sounds like a match with you, please complete our online rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process.

Bosco

More Photos
AGE: 3 years old
SEX: Male (Neutered)
BREED: Miniature Schnauzer
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Bosco is a 3 year old, male Miniature Schnauzer and he is looking for a new home. His original home had five children, the youngest only a year old, and Bosco was not happy with the children's handling and became snappy. He was rehomed to an older couple but was not happy with their visiting grandchildren, so he is now in DAR's care and hoping for third time lucky re a new home.

Bosco is a lovely young dog, with lots to offer the right owner. He needs a home with no children, including regularly visiting children, but is fine with adults. He is house-trained, good on the lead and good in the car. Bosco is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped, so is good to go!

He is currently in boarding kennels, mixing with other dogs with no problems but does not show much interest in the other dogs so perhaps best on his own. Has no experience of cats, so hard to say whether he'd accept living with a cat or not. Schnauzers require regular professional grooming so this is a financial commitment to be considered.

Bosco is very independent in himself, likes a bit of affection but not too much, so if you can offer a home to suit Bosco's needs, please let us know. Please complete our online rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process.

Daisy

More Photos
AGE: < 6 Months
SEX: Female
BREED: Terrier
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Daisy is a small little terrier who was surrendered by her owner because they were going on holiday and decided they didn't want her anymore. She was a nervous wreck when she first came into our care, however she is being well socialised with dogs, cats and children in a busy household.

Daisy has since been fully vaccinated and microchipped. She is now looking for a new home where her owners won't abandon her in favour of a holiday. She is still a bit nervous in new situations and new people, but she'll come around when she realises there is nothing to worry about.

Daisy would be best rehomed in a family with another playful little dog, as the other foster dogs seem to have helped with Daisy's confidence and development. She would also be best rehomed in households with children over 12-years of age, as Daisy is a delicate little one that may get a bit stressed out and nervous with the energy and over-exuberant nature of young children but in general is good around children.

If you would like to offer Daisy a home and family to call her own, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Katie

More Photos
AGE: 1 year approx.
SEX: Female (Neutered)
BREED: Doberman/Terrier
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Katie is looking for a new home where she'll have company for most of the day, live as part of the family, get lots of exercise and attention and ideally have another dog for company and play. Katie is an unusual mix, we think part Doberman or Rottie and Terrier. She is medium size, weighing 13kg. Katie is neutered and will be fully vaccinated and microchipped before being rehomed.

She loves other dogs, is currently living with another dog and would need another dog in a new home, young enough to play with her. She's also living with two cats and tries to play with them so a home with cats would be fine. Katie is used to kids (5yrs or over only please) and is very active, playful and loves attention. Katie currently sleeps in the sitting room and has been known to chew the odd slipper, especially at night.

She is a sweet dog who is just waiting for the right home. If you can offer a suitable home to Katie, please complete our rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process.

Rodney

More Photos
AGE: 1-2 years old approx
SEX: Male (Neutered)
BREED: Yorkshire Terrier
LOCATION: Fostered
DESCRIPTION:

Rodney has been in two potential homes but unfortunately neither has worked out. The first had another Yorkie who was completely dominated by Rodney and they just weren't a match. The second home had no other pets and Rodney was very happy but one of the family members developed an allergy so Rodney is currently back in foster care and hoping for third time lucky!

He is approx. 1-2 yrs old, fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped and is ready and waiting for his new life. Rodney can be feisty with other dogs so might be happier on his own but it very much depends on the other dog. Any other dog would need to be friendly, playful and not easily intimidated.

Rodney is great with people, adults and children (over 5yrs only please), is friendly, happy to be handled and loves a cuddle. He is happy to be groomed, good in the car and is a great little watchdog! He is very much a house dog and must live inside, be part of the family and involved in whatever's going on.

Rodney has a birth defect where the two middle toes on his left front paw are missing. It doesn't bother him in any way but does make him look like a pirate with a peg-leg! He can walk and jump and play perfectly well and loves his daily walks. Rodney is small and lively and needs a completely secure garden. He also needs company for most of the day. He'll make a brilliant pet and companion for someone as he is people focused and will bond strongly with a loving owner.

If you can offer a suitable home to Rodney, please complete the Rehoming Questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process. Thank you.

Shadow

More Photos
AGE: 5 Years of Age
SEX: Female
BREED: Labrador X Breed
LOCATION: Private Boarding Kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Shadow is a medium size dog that was surrendered by her owners due to financial difficulties which caused them to move to a smaller dwelling that doesn't allow animals.

Shadow will be neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped before she is rehomed. She is a very active little dog that would benefit from regular exercise. She is a bit giddy so would not be suitable in a home with small children. She best walked with a harness.

Shadow gets on well with other dogs however not with cats! She is housetrained and is used to being both indoors and outdoors.

We hope to find this little one a new home and family to call her own. No doubt she is wondering why she has been moved from the only family she's ever known, but we hope to reassure her that we're only looking out for her best interests.

If you can offer Shadow a loving and caring new home, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Lucy

More Photos
AGE: ~ 1 Year of Age
SEX: Female - Neutered
BREED: Collie / Spaniel Cross Breed
LOCATION: In Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:

Lucy was found at the St. Mary's entrance to Mornington Beach, Co Meath on March 4th, 2014. No owner has come forward for her and she is now looking for a new home to call her own.

She has since been fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. She is currently in foster care and her foster family have only good things to say about her!

Lucy is a very energetic dog that needs her daily exercise. Once she's expended her energy, she is quiet and calm in the home and will happily fall asleep on your lap while watching TV!

Lucy is good with children however she gives chase to cats. She will need a bit more work on both on and off lead training. She's still excitable when meeting other dogs on the lead and in general gets on well with them if they don't come into her house! She hasn't been around other dogs much in terms of sharing her living space and people.

Lucy will require a well secured garden with high fencing / walls as she can jump fairly high. And she does like her share of fresh fruit and vegetable!

If you can give this fantastic dog a new home and family to call her own, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

DESCRIPTION:

Bella is a young and energetic dog that was found in Dunleer Village, Co Louth on January 14th, 2014. She'd been hit by a car and sustained a fractured leg. No owner has come forward for Little Bella, so it's time we look for a new home for her.

She has since recovered from her ordeal with long cage rest and has since been fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Bella was never trained on the lead so she is quite giddy on it. She is a medium size dog full of energy and gets on very well with other dogs and loves people. She will need a home that will offer her the opportunity for exercise and new owners who have the patience to train her.

Bella is an affectionate little dog and we hope to find a new home to call her own.

Bailey

AGE: < 3 Years of Age
SEX: Male - Neutered
BREED: Terrier
LOCATION: In Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:

Bailey was a local figure seen regularly around the Seapoint Beach area in Termonfeckin, Co Louth and we were sure someone around there owned him, however he was arrested by the dog wardens one day and thrown into jail. Bailey has since been released and has recovered from a nasty case of kennel cough he picked up from his inmates.

Bailey is a small and lightweight little dog with a docked tail. He's very affectionate and loves his hugs and cuddles. Bailey is better with female dogs or dogs who won't challenge him. He will need a very secure garden as he's an escape artist (must have been a skill he acquired while in jail).

Bailey has since been fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

If you can give this little fellow a home to call his own, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire. Also, don't think he's keen on kats!

Gizy's Pups - Cal and Rover

More Photos
AGE: DOB 13 May 2014
SEX: Male
BREED: Terrier Mixed Breed
LOCATION: In Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:

Gizy was the proud mum of eight pups and she did a mighty job at nursing them and teaching them to act like terriers! She has seen six of her pups go to new families and now has only two left that are looking for their new homes.

Cal is a the black curly coat fella. He is a very sweet looking and cuddly pup. We think that Cal will need to go to a new home where there is another dog or two to keep him company and keep him in line! Given the chance, he'll try to throw his weight around, but with an older dog around to teach him manners, you'd swear butter would melt in his mouth!

Rover is the tan leggy rascal. He's a lovely dog and is a bit more independent than Cal. He would also best suit a home with other dogs around for companionship.

Mum Gizy is the white wire hair terrier and she has a new home reserved for her.

Both Cal and Rover are now fully vaccinated, microchipped and have been on a regular worming schedule since 2-weeks of age.

If you can provide a safe and caring home for these boys, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire. And please remember; we do not rehome pups to households where owners will be away all day nor do we rehome pups to families with children under 5-years of age.

Sumo

AGE: 8.5yrs
SEX: Male (Neutered)
BREED: Lab x
LOCATION: Surrender by owner
DESCRIPTION:

Sumo is a male mixed breed, probably Lab x, and he's looking for a new home. He is being reluctantly surrendered by his owners because their young baby has developed and allergy to dog hair. Sumo is an ex-DAR dog, adopted as a puppy in November 2005. He is a family dog, friendly with adults and children but hates cats, so no small furries please!

Sumo is a large dog, active and in good health. He is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. He is house-trained, good on the lead and good in the car. He sleeps inside and is used to being part of the family. Although always an only dog, he is fine with most other dogs and should be fine living with another dog, preferably female.

He is described by his owners as a wonderful dog, playful and passive and are very sorry to have to let him go. If you can offer handsome Sumo a new home, please complete our Rehoming Questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process. Thank you.

Coyote Joe

More Photos
AGE: < 3 Years of Age
SEX: Male - Neutered
BREED: 100% Terrier
LOCATION: In Kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Coyote Joe was found as a stray by a member of the public while out walking her dogs on January 23rd, 2014 in Newgrange Co Meath. It is suspected that poor Coyote Joe was abandoned as was in the same spot the next day when the same woman walked by again, but this time she knew something wasn't right and took him into her care.

Coyote Joe has since been fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. We've come to learn a lot about this little fellow and hope to find him a home with a true terrier lover!

He's not too bad around other dogs, but ideally a home with a female dog would be better as he has a streak of jealousy with other male dogs especially big dogs and will challenge them to the risk of his own health and safety! Coyote Joe doesn't like cats, ducks or chickens and we should probably add rabbits and anything small in general that's furry or with feathers!

But underneath the duck killing nature of Coyote Joe, is a very affectionate little dog. He will gain your affection and steal your heart. He's generally quiet at night when he settles in and not too bad with the toilet training although new places will cause him a bit of stress and anxiety, but once he has settled in, he's a fine little fellow.

If you can offer Coyote Joe a new home to call his own, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

P.S. Coyote Joe is somewhat camera shy so we hope to get new photos.

Louie

More Photos
AGE: 10 years old
SEX: Male
BREED: Terrier x
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Louie is a male Terrier, 10 years old and he is looking for a new home because his owners want him to have the exercise and attention he deserves but that they can't give due to family commitments. He currently lives with another dog - Prince, see separate entry - but Prince and Louie have been clashing lately so might be best as an only dog or perhaps with a female. No cats though! Louie is friendly, house-trained and lead-trained and but not good on recall. He is very affectionate towards older children and adults. Loves to be rubbed and have company but also likes his own company at times just pottering round the garden or sunbathing. Louie is vaccinated and will be neutered and microchipped before being rehomed.

Despite being 10 years old, Louie is still an active dog, in good health and needs daily walks and company. He needs a secure garden and sleeps inside and, like all dogs, he just wants to be involved in whatever''s going on. If you can offer Louie a suitable new home, please complete the rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process.

Sasha

More Photos
AGE: 7 years old
SEX: Female (Neutered)
BREED: Terrier x
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

SASHA is a female Terrier x, medium size (12.4kg) and she is 7 years old. She has plenty of energy, great temperament and loves company. She is active and loves her walks but couldn't go for miles (even though she'd want to!) due to an old leg injury from when she was a puppy. She is vaxed, neutered and microchipped. She was surrendered due to family commitments in Nov 2013 and was on trial in new home but as the country property was not fully secure she had started to wander and ended up in Louth Dog Pound. So a secure garden is essential.

Sasha is friendly and affectionate and has lived with another dog in her previous home and her trial home and with four dogs in her current foster home, so the company of another dog would be good for her, ideally a male either her own size or bigger. Sasha is a bit afraid of other dogs initially and can snarl if they are in her face but soon becomes friends. She is 100% house-trained and very much a house dog who just wants to be part of the family. If you can offer Sasha a home, please complete our rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process. Thank You.

Minnie

More Photos
AGE: 2-3yrs old
SEX: Female (Neutered)
BREED: Jack Russell
LOCATION: In kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Minnie is a little female Jack Russell and she was found near Exit 10 of the M1 in Drogheda on 22 Feb 2014. She had no collar, no microchip and was in heat. Despite best efforts to find her owners, no were found so Minnie now needs a new home. She has since been fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped so is good to go.

Minnie would ideally like to be an only dog so she can be the centre of attention. She is food focused so may have known hunger in the past. She is great with people and happy to be held, cuddled, washed, etc. She is good on the lead and a good traveller (although wants to be in your lap, so a crate would be needed if you are driving!). She will territory mark inside if there are other dogs present, especially when she first arrives. She's a typical Jack Russell and would make a good pet and companion for someone. She wants to be a house dog and live inside. We're not sure if she has any experience of kids or cats. She's fine with other dogs unless there is food present (she wants it all!) so probably best as an only dog.

Little Minnie has a lot to offer the right home so if you can offer her a suitable home, please let us know. Please complete our rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process. Thank you.

AGE: < 5 Years of Age
SEX: Male - Neutered
BREED: Spaniel Mixed Breed
LOCATION: In Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:

Oscar was found on Bettystown Beach, Co Meath on January 26th, 2014. He had been previously seen out and about on several occasions however no one has come forward to claim little Oscar.

Oscar is in foster care and is now looking for a new home and family to call his own.

He has since been neutered, fully vaccinated and is microchipped. Oscar has a lot of good qualities that we hope will catch someone's eye. He is a medium size dog no bigger than a Springer Spaniel.

Oscar is described by his foster mum as being kind, gentle and loving. He wants affection and attention and lots of it! He doesn't like being outside on his own so would be best in a home where he is kept inside to be a part of the family.

Oscar loves his walks and playing. He is great with other dogs and good with children. He is good both on and off the lead and will happily jump into the car when he sees the boot open!

If Oscar has any faults, it is one; he loves to chase after the tyres of moving cars!

If you can give this little mite a new home and family to call his own, please complete a rehoming questionnaire.

Folks

More Photos
AGE: 3 Years of Age
SEX: Male - Neutered
BREED: Mixed Breed (Large)
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Introducing Folks! He was surrendered by his owner as he wasn't welcomed in the new house by the landlord. He originally came from Collon Animal Sanctuary as a pup and has been with his family since.

Folks has the body of a Labrador, the swishy tail of a Collie and the nutmeg face of a Terrier! He is a large dog that is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Folks is a great dog and we are becoming very fond of him. He is very strong on the lead, but great off the lead as he loves to stay with his pack. He doesn't annoy people or other dogs that he meets, but does get excited when he's on the lead and sees other dogs; all he wants to do is say hello and play!

It will take a little while for Folks to warm up to new people he meets, but once he knows them, he will love them! Folks would suit households with children over 12 years of age; not because he doesn't like young children but he sometimes gets a bit over exuberant when playing and loves to jump on your back! He isn't an overly "jump up in your face" dog and is in general a very well mannered dog.

Folks isn't boisterous or destructive and loves to chase after a ball, loves the beach and loves to just lounge in the garden. Folks isn't aggressive or challenging towards other dogs. However, he does not like cats!

Folks would get along with another dog that also loves to play as he seems to enjoy his canine company.

If you can offer Folks a new home and family, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

AGE: 4 Years of Age

LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Holly is being surrendered by her owner and we hope we can find this lovely girl and new home and family.

Holly is medium / large in size, is neutered and fully vaccinated. She gets along great with children and is well behaved in the house. She is house trained and travels well in the car. Holly is an inside / outside dog and is used to be being very much a part of the family.

Holly is an alpha dog and will get on with some dogs, but not all dogs. Cats are definitely a NO NO and we don't think that Holly will ever make friends with them. Holly is very strong on the lead and will need an experienced dog handler. She doesn't always come back immediately upon recall when off the lead, but will eventually return.

Teddy

More Photos
AGE: < 2 Years of Age
SEX: Female - Neutered
BREED: Akita X German Shepherd
LOCATION: In Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:

Teddy's story is a sad one, but she was saved from a life of loneliness as she was kept in a back garden 24x7 with very little human contact. Her cries of loneliness played on the ears of a concerned woman who actually bought Teddy from her owner, only to save her from isolation and give her a chance at leading a much better life.

Teddy is a Akita / German Shepherd cross breed, however has more of a personality and temperament of an Akita. She's not fond of small animals; cats are definitely a NO NO and small dogs aren't her favourite either.

Teddy has been neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Teddy will need an experienced dog handler especially one who has experience with Akita's and understands their temperament.

She would suit a household with children over 12 years of age and may or may not get along with another dog; depends on her mood for the day, but generally she is better around bigger dogs.

If you are interested in giving Teddy a new home, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Fluffy

AGE: 2 Years of Age

BREED: Terrier Wire Hair
LOCATION: In Foster Care / Surrender
DESCRIPTION:

Fluffy is a well known canine in Drogheda and is a dog about town. His travels have lead him to the county dog pound and he has even been in the care of Drogheda Animal Rescue a couple of times. Fluffy has been quite fortunate to remain unscathed from all his wanderings.

He was surrendered by his owners in February 2014 and we now have him safe in foster care.

Fluffy is a typical terrier, tries to be the boss of everyone, but he has a lot of good qualities. Fluffy is a very affectionate little fellow and gets on well with other dogs. He is very playful and obedient. We don't think that he'd be good buddies with cats though. Fluffy looks older than his years and we suspect that's due to his rough living on the streets.

He is now neutered and fully vaccinated. If you can give this vagabond a new home and family to call his own, complete a rehoming questionnaire.

Scooby is being surrendered by his elderly owner who has arthritis making it difficult to walk and care for Scooby. Therefore, Scooby isn't getting the exercise and attention he needs and indeed it's driving him batty!

Scooby spends most of his time outside. He does need work with lead training and needs to get neutered before being rehomed. He has loads of energy but once he's given ample exercise, he'll quietly lie on your lap. Scooby is an affection dog that deserves another chance.

He doesn't get on with other dogs and cats are out of the question! He is probably too giddy and excitable for children under 12 years of age.

DESCRIPTION:

Buster is a mature male Collie x and he needs a new home. He was originally found as a stray along with his son Bubba (see separate entry) and although their owner was found, unfortunately he did not want them back as he was no longer in a position to care for them. Buster is currently in kennels. He is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Buster needs a home where he can have human company and plenty of attention and cuddles. He is still very active and loves his walks. He had a full top to toe health check recently while in the vets for neutering and passed with flying colours. There's plenty of life in the old boy yet! Buster was mainly an outdoor dog in his previous home but has really taken to his home comforts and deserves nothing less in his twilight years.

Buster has had a tough break being surrendered at this stage of his life so we are hoping to find him the home he deserves with someone who will love him and give him the time and attention he needs. James was originally found tied outside to a Pound in Dublin. He was in very bad condition and was taken into care by an animal rescue that brought him back to health.

He was then adopted to live in a nursing home as a companion dog, however he didn't do very well with all the coming and going of people and just the general noise of a busy environment. DAR was subsequently contacted to rehome James, however we weren't fast enough and James found himself being sold for €80 on DoneDeal. With no interested buyers (and a good thing), James then found himself in pound (not such a good thing) where he was at risk of being put down. One of our kind volunteers who had been dealing with James's case found out about his plight and sprung into action to get him out of jail and into the immediate care of DAR.

James is now in foster care and we know this about him. He definitely does not like cats, likes long walks and plenty of exercise, doesn't like loud noises and the clatter of trailors, and doesn't appreciate the over exuberance of loads of children playing loudly but he does like children (just not so many at one time!).

So, we are looking for a home that will give James the peace and quiet he needs and also the opportunity for plenty of exercise and companionship. James is a bit of a softy and loves to be hugged and made a fuss over!

James is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is lead trained and comes back upon recall when off the lead. He isn't boisterous or destructive. James has had a rough life and he bears the scars of past troubled years, but is still very trusting and loving of people.

If you can offer James a home and family to call his own, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Shadow

More Photos
AGE: 18 months approx.
SEX: Male (Neutered)
BREED: Husky/Malamute
LOCATION: In kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Shadow is a handsome young male Husky/Malamute and he is ready and waiting for the right home. He was found in October 2013 dodging traffic on the dual carriageway in Drogheda, Co. Louth. Despite best efforts to find his owner, none came forward.

Shadow is a large dog with a good temperament and like all Huskies or Malamutes, has a lot of energy and needs an active lifestyle and a VERY secure garden. He is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Shadow was born with a dodgy knee on his hind right leg but it causes him no problems. He may not be the dog for you if you want him to go long distance running but walking, playing and normal activities pose no problems. Shadow is a bright, agile and active dog and he needs company for most of the day, a large secure property (ideally in the country as he loves the outdoors) and another dog for company - preferably female. He is currently in kennels but we know the right home is out there waiting for him somewhere.

If you have large dog experience and can offer a suitable permanent home to Shadow, please complete our rehoming questionnaire which is the first step in our rehoming process.

Timmy

More Photos
AGE: < 2 Years of Age
SEX: Male - Neutered
BREED: Spaniel Cross Breed
LOCATION: In Kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Timmy was originally found as a stray on 17 June 2013, Windmill Road, Drogheda Co Louth, however his owner was subsequently found and wished to surrender him for rehoming.

Timmy is fully vaccinated and neutered. He is a small to medium size dog who is very friendly and very active. He gets along well with children and other dogs; he isn't as good with cats.

Timmy will require an owner with previous dog experience and one who is willing to give this young boy the amount of exercise and activity he needs. Timmy requires a secure garden and isn't suitable to be left on his own in the garden as he easily gets bored and will look elsewhere for entertainment.

If you can provide Timmy with the type of home he needs, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire. Currently Timmy is in private boarding kennels and although he has a lot of playmates, he'd like a home and family to call his own.

Ronnie

More Photos
AGE: 3 Years of Age
SEX: Male
BREED: Labrador Cross Breed
LOCATION: In Kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Ronnie was surrendered by his owner due to a change in personal circumstances and living arrangements. We hope to find this big guy a new home and family to call his own; no doubt he's wondering why he was whisked away from the only family he's known and put into kennels.

Ronnie is fully vaccinated and will be neutered before being rehomed. He is described as very friendly, but can be shy around strangers. He is great with children and loves to play ball. He can be quite content to just sit by your side while you watch TV or read the newspaper.

He travels well in the car, can be a bit strong on the lead initially, but is good upon recall while off the lead.

He isn't destructive or boisterous. We think Ronnie would be best in a home that isn't too busy with activity. If you can offer Ronnie a new home and family to call his own, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Molly

More Photos
AGE: < 5 Years Old
SEX: Female - Neutered
BREED: Terrier
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Molly was surrendered by her owner due to no fault of her own and was at RISK to being sent to the pound, so we quickly took Molly into foster care.

Little Molly has had a chequered life and was originally found as a stray dog living rough in Collon Co Louth. She was picked up by the dog wardens and thrown into jail, but was released to a caring woman who was familiar with Molly. But unfortunately the man of the house wasn't keen on Molly nor was Molly keen on him and she was under threat of being sent to the pound and that's where we stepped in.

Molly is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. She's a well behaved dog and is good on and off the lead. She doesn't like the loud noises of tractors and trucks. She's a bit on the nervous side, so we are seeking a home without young children. She is good around other dogs and hasn't been tried and tested around cats.

Molly is very much a woman's dog and wants to bond to someone. She needs lots of TLC and reassurance that she won't be abandoned, so will need a home where there is someone home more often than not to give her comfort and security.

If you can give this Molly a new home to call her own, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Scan

More Photos
AGE: ~ 1-3 Years
SEX: Male
BREED: Spaniel Cross Breed - Medium Size
LOCATION: In Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:

Scan was found running around Peter Street / Laurence Street in Drogheda Town Centre, Drogheda County Louth on Friday October 12th, 2013. A kind member of the public took him in for fear he would get hit by a car.

No one has come forward to reclaim Scan and now he's looking for a new home and family to call his own.

Scan has now been neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is a lovely dog and is well behaved in the house. Scan is a very active dog and loves to run around sniffing here, there and everywhere. He is strong on the lead so will need some lead training. He's good off the lead and will stay within eyesight and come back when called.

We suspect that Scan was a hunting dog at one time as he is alert and active. Scan isn't boisterous or destructive.

He seems to be fine around other dogs and will give chase to cats.

We hope to get some more photos of Scan to update his profile.

If you can give this wonderful fellow a new home to call his own, complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Bandit

More Photos
AGE: 1 year old
SEX: Male (neutered)
BREED: Black Lab/Boxer cross
LOCATION: In Kennels
DESCRIPTION:

Bandit was found on the Beamore Rd, Drogheda, on Friday September 20th, 2013. No owner came forward and Bandit is now looking for his forever home.

Bandit was found with a long chain around his neck and it looks like he has been kept in a yard most of his life. At first he was very timid and weary of people and other dogs but he came around big time. He now loves playing with other dogs and loves cuddling up beside you.

He is a big softie and still can have his moments of insecurity. Bandit is good on recall, good on the lead but because of his size he needs an experienced dog handler. A family with children older than 10 years will suit him fine and will need a good bit of company.

If you can give Bandit his forever home, please fill in the rehoming questionnaire and we will contact you.

Mylo

More Photos
AGE: 3 Years of Age
SEX: Male
BREED: Dalmatian
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Mylo was reluctantly surrendered by his owner due to relocation to New Zealand for work. We hope to find this handsome boy a new home and family.

Mylo is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He was originally acquired by his owner from a breeder as a pup. Mylo is a typical energetic Dalmatian that will need someone who is willing to give him the exercise and time he needs. Mylo is very strong on the lead and will need some basic training, but on the plus side, Mylo listens and responds well to training. He isn't aggressive with either people or other dogs, but Mylo hasn't learned how to greet other dogs politely so he usually approaches them full of energy and bounce, which may be a bit off putting to both the dogs and their owners.

Mylo shows a lot of promise in the right hands of someone who is familiar with the Dalmatian temperament and will to give them the time. Oh, and did we say that Mylo is a very handsome boy?

If you can give Mylo the home he needs, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire.

Helmet

More Photos
AGE: 3 Years Old
SEX: Female - Neutered
BREED: Cocker Spaniel
LOCATION: Surrender by Owner
DESCRIPTION:

Helmet is being reluctantly surrendered by her owners and we are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and a household with children over 12 years of age.

Helmet is a lovely dog and has a lot going on for her, but like many Cocker Spaniels, Helmet is a bit nervous and would be best suited in a calm household and environment.

She is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, toilet trained, lead trained, doesn't chew or bark excessively. She gets on with some dogs and definitely not cats! She is good on recall and loves her exercise!

Helmet is a bit wary of strangers and doesn't like to be fussed over or petted excessively. She would be best rehomed to someone who is experienced with Cocker Spaniels.

If you can provide Helmet with the home she needs, please complete an online rehoming questionnaire.
